Kuskokwim River Ice Thickness From Kalskag to Napaimute as of April 21

It’s not surprising after the cool weather we’ve had the past month that the ice is still pretty thick.  Late break-up?  Maybe…but then again it’s anyone’s guess.
Here’s what Mark Leary found on April 21.
Upper Kalskag: 45”, mid-channel, patchy snow cover, windblown, but there is close to 24” of snow on the ice just a couple of miles down below the village
Aniak: 48”, mid-channel, 13” of continuous snow cover
Napaimute: 48”, mid-channel, 75% glare ice.

Ready to punch the hole in front of Napaimute.
