Alaska’s Homeland Security Situation Report On The Entire Kuskokwim

Kuskokwim River: The tripod at McGrath tripped last night. Downriver from McGrath to Sleetmute the ice is shifting in place. Downriver from Sleetmute to Crooked Creek the river is mostly open. Ten miles downriver from Napaimute, the ice is jammed and water levels are reported to be high in Napaimute. The ice is lifted and rotten in the Aniak area and water is reported to coming up slowly.

Now that the sun is shining and the temperature has hit 55, the surrounding snow is rapidly melting and the water here in Aniak is rising fairly quickly.

Photo from this morning before the melt started.
